Shandong Port Group (SPG) recently announced the official start of operations or construction on a number of world-class marine port cluster projects in Weifang and Rizhao.

In Weifang, SPG revealed 21 projects, including ones that have been operational since 2024, ones presently under construction, and ones launched in 2025, with a total investment of 40 billion yuan ($5.5 billion).

Since its establishment, SPG has reached strategic cooperation agreements with a number of major enterprises in Weifang, increasing investment and layout efforts, focusing on promoting the development of emerging sectors such as technology, trade, and energy in Weifang, and establishing China's first zero-carbon port. To date, the company has accumulated approximately 11 billion yuan in investment in Weifang, becoming a key partner in the city’s economic development. The strategic location and resources of Weifang Port have been fully utilized, with the port's service capacity and influence continuously increasing and cargo throughput and container volume achieving significant annual growth.

In Rizhao, SPG announced 55 key projects with a total investment of approximately 61.6 billion yuan.

Seizing this opportunity, SPG will further promote the deep integration and mutual empowerment of ports, industries and cities, help develop a prominent industrial system near the ports, and make greater contributions to the high-quality development of the regional economy and society.
