Jan 1 Huo Gaoyuan, chairman of Shandong Port Group (SPG), and Li Fengli, general manager of SPG, were honored on the 2023 Chinese shipping celebrity list. Huo Gaoyuan has been included in the list's top ten for four consecutive years. 

Jan 18 SPG signed a memorandum of cooperation with Uzbekistan Railway Freight Company.

Feb 21 SPG held a ceremony in Qingdao to mark the operation and commencement of its world-class port cluster construction projects of 2024.

Feb 22 SPG held a ceremony in Yantai to mark the operation and commencement of its world-class port cluster construction projects of 2024.

Feb 25 SPG held a ceremony in Rizhao to mark the operation and commencement of its world-class port cluster construction projects of 2024.

March 1 SPG held its 2024 business promotion conference and West Asia branch unveiling ceremony in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

March 14 A ceremony was held at Weifang Port to celebrate the carbon neutrality certification of the Weifang Port area of Bohaiwan Port. The certification is the first of its kind in the country and the world's first carbon-neutral certification encompassing an entire port area.

March 16 The Shandong Port Overseas Warehouse Mexico was unveiled.

March 27 SPG held the integrated supply chain service and China-South Korea Daily Delivery promotion conference and unveiled its representative office in the Republic of Korea.

March 29 SPG held the integrated supply chain service and PES promotion conference and unveiled its representative office in Japan.

April 2 SPG was awarded the title of "2023 Shandong Social Responsibility Enterprise". Since the commencement of the selection process, Shandong Port has made the list every year.

April 11 Rizhao Port launched three systems simultaneously: an intelligent container terminal operating system called A-TOS, an intelligent container terminal management system called iCTMS, and a complete new supply chain service platform called Zhoudao. Rizhao Port became the first port to introduce Qingdao Port's container intelligent control system, which was China's first self-developed terminal operating system.

May 8 Qingdao Port and Piraeus Port Authority S.A. signed a sister port relationship agreement in Piraeus, Greece. SPG currently has 47 sister ports.

May 14 The China (Shandong) – UK Business Cooperation Dialogue kicked off in London, Britain. SPG launched its UK representative office during the event.

May 22 Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, inspected the city of Rizhao in East China's Shandong province. He visited Rizhao Port and a coastal greenway to learn about the local progress in promoting the smart and green development of the port, expanding the opening up, strengthening the ecological protection and restoration of the coastline, and improving the quality of people's lives.

June 12 The groundbreaking ceremony for China's first full-scenario hydrogen port kicked off in Qingdao. 

July 22 The founding conference of Shandong Marine Corporation was convened.

Aug 6 The fifth anniversary summary and commendation conference of SPG began in Qingdao.

Sep 10 SPG unveiled a representative office in Central and Eastern Europe.

Sep 11 The 2024 top 500 Chinese enterprises list was announced, with SPG experiencing a substantial rise in ranking. This marked SPG's third inclusion in the top 500 Chinese enterprises, placing at 172nd among the top 500 Chinese enterprises and 57th among the top 500 Chinese service enterprises.

Oct 15 Weifang Port obtained the certification of carbon neutrality from the China Classification Society, becoming China's first zero-carbon port.

Oct 24 At the APSN Green Port Awards System ceremony, the SPG Yantai Port West Port Area 300,000-Ton Crude Oil Terminal and the Rizhao Port Shijiu Port Area South Operation Area were honored with the title of APSN Green Port for 2024.

Nov 12 SPG held the Integrated Supply Chain Service Customer Exchange Meeting, and unveiled its South America Representative Office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Dec 8 to 9 SPG signed sister port relationship agreements with Turkey's Kumport Port and Morocco's Tangier Med Port.

Dec 24 Qingdao Port achieved a single-crane productivity of 3,167 metric tons per hour during an unloading task by the ore carrier Pacific Warrior. This marked the 27th time that the port had set a world record for iron ore unloading efficiency.

Dec 27 SPG saw more than 1.8 billion tons of cargo throughput in 2024 and the container volume at SPG exceeded 44 million TEUs.
