A deployment conference on constructing the national artificial intelligence pilot test base in the transport sector kicked off in Qingdao on Sept 9.

This is the first of three national artificial intelligence pilot test bases in the transport sector, which will be located in Qingdao, Mianyang, and Xiamen. They are part of efforts to collaboratively build a national innovation hub for artificial intelligence applications in the transportation field. Among them, the port-led artificial intelligence innovation public service platform has been established in Shandong Port Group (SPG).

Deepening the integrated application of the port industry and artificial intelligence represents a strategic choice for SPG and is integral to its efforts to drive high-quality development. Since its establishment on Aug 6, 2019, SPG has completed the nation's first pilot program on "smart port construction" in a high-standard way, rolling out a series of pioneering achievements including the country's first indigenously developed automated container terminal and the first port service large-scale model named "Ark", thereby achieving full coverage of intelligent operations for containers, dry bulk, and break-bulk cargo handling. 

Going forward, SPG will work together with relevant parties to comprehensively promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence with port production and operations, integrated supply chain services, as well as economic and social development. It will continue to expand new scenarios for smart applications, constantly foster new drivers for industrial development, and strive to make new and greater contributions to building China into a leading transportation and technology powerhouse.
