The first shipment of Northeast-made bulldozers, bagged cement, and refractory bricks rolled off the "Shandong-Liaoning Golden Waterway" and was transshipped at Yantai Port onto a freighter bound for Southeast Asia, formally opening the "Northeast China-Yantai-Southeast Asia" general-cargo route and cutting shippers' door-to-door costs by 20 percent.

Port operator Shandong Port Group said the route marks a major step in the port's role as a key logistics hub for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and gives ASEAN nations a new maritime link to the global trade value chain.

Yantai Port – one of 15 BRI pivot ports – uses location and logistics to ship high-performance Chinese construction gear worldwide. It handles 200-plus general-cargo types and runs a dense network of 28 foreign-trade routes to over 30 countries across Southeast Asia, Africa, Central and South America, and the Middle East.

The Yantai Port affiliated international general cargo terminal company introduced comprehensive supply chain services, including space reservation, international freight forwarding, port loading, and fast-track direct shipping. This enables the new logistics model to reduce comprehensive logistics costs, earning high recognition from customers.

The port coordinated with customs, maritime affairs, border inspection, and pilotage to efficiently complete customs and quarantine procedures, reducing overall clearance and port-stay time. By integrating various production resources and tailoring exclusive lifting operation plans, Yantai Port efficiently completed the entire ship-loading task.
