Qingdao Port wins triple honors as green port
Shandong Port Group Qingdao Port was awarded three "five-star" honors in China's 2024 green port rating evaluation, announced by the China Ports and Harbors Association. Qingdao Qianwan Phase II & III Container Terminal (QQCT) and Qingdao Qianwan United Container Terminal (QQCTU) were rated as "five-star" green ports, while the southern container terminal area of Qianwan Container Terminal was named a "five-star" green port area. These represent the highest accolades in China's green port evaluation system.
This achievement establishes Qingdao Port as the first container "five-star" green port area in northern China and among the earliest nationwide. It also marks the first time the port has achieved full "five-star" green coverage across its core container zones, setting a benchmark for national port development.
QQCT and QQCTU, located in Qianwan Port Area, together with Qingdao New Qianwan Container Terminal (QQCTN), form the core container operation zone. The southern container terminal area, comprising QQCTU and QQCTN, focuses on international container trunk line transportation. Unified route deployment and resource sharing have reduced vessel port time and improved logistics efficiency by 30 percent annually.
Environmentally friendly equipment such as hybrid oil-electric, hydrogen-electric tugboats and the world's first overhead rail container transport and distribution system, have been deployed. The port's independently developed "A-TOS" system integrates intelligent and green technologies, continuously setting world records for automated terminal efficiency.
