At Rizhao Port of Shandong Port Group (SPG), visitors from Cuba and Indonesia recently got an up-close look at how robotics and AI are transforming port operations. They were impressed by the port's smart systems and innovative approach.

Li Ruisong, director of the digital intelligence center at Rizhao Port, introduced the inspection robot that patrols conveyor belts, checking bearings for heat or unusual sounds.

"It's amazing. I now see how essential robots are in complex environments. I highly recommend this robot and congratulate the team behind it," said Orlando, a Cuban chief scientist from Shandong Yuantai Bioengineering.

Meanwhile, Indonesian student Pei Leyi from Rizhao Polytechnic observed a timber sorting robot. Using cameras to capture images of wood, the robot automatically counts and organizes timber, making the process faster and more precise.

From grain inspections to timber management, these robots showcase the deep integration of AI into port operations. Today, smart robots take on critical roles at Rizhao Port — tireless, precise, and efficient. Together, they form a smarter, greener, and more capable port, driving innovation and high-quality growth for the future.
