At Shandong Port Group's (SPG) Linyi Inland Port, a sea-rail intermodal train bound for Qingdao Port — carrying small commodities, ceramics, and panels from Linyi's wholesale markets — recently met a return train loaded with imported logs and wood products.

This coordinated operation marks the upgrading of the "Linyi-Qingdao Port" service into a scheduled sea-rail intermodal train, enabling daily departures and strengthening two-way logistics connectivity in southern Shandong.

As a scheduled service integrated into the national railway timetable, the train operates with fixed routes, frequency, pricing, and priority handling in allocation, loading, dispatch, and clearance.

With this upgrade, the transit time between Linyi and Qingdao Port has been reduced from one or two days to under 10 hours, allowing goods to depart in the evening and be shipped overseas the next day.

To meet the demand for imported raw materials, especially in the wood-processing sector, Shandong Port Logistics Group's Linyi company, together with its local office, coordinated with enterprises and railway authorities to launch a daily return service for import containers. Imported goods arriving at Qingdao Port are directly transported by rail to Linyi Inland Port, enabling efficient two-way cargo flow and reducing logistics costs.

The inland port has also been upgraded with supporting services including container storage, handling, and maintenance. Over 60 foreign trade and logistics enterprises have signed cooperation agreements to ensure a stable cargo supply.

Moving forward, Shandong Port Logistics Group will further support Linyi's role as a national logistics hub and develop a more efficient, seamless, and green land–sea transport corridor.
