During the May Day holiday, Qingdao Port of Shandong Port Group (SPG) maintained smooth and efficient operations through strengthened coordination, planned deployment, and refined production management.

Shortly after setting a global single-vessel handling record for Gemini Cooperation, the port marked another achievement at the Qianwan Port. On May 1, the COSCO Shipping Aquarius, operating on Ocean Alliance's AEU1 Europe service, departed successfully after achieving a new world record for berth productivity on the route at 320.59 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) per hour.

As vessel arrivals surged over the holiday period, Qingdao Port optimized planning in advance and streamlined operational procedures across all stages. The use of automated dangerous cargo stowage technology improved safety and loading precision, while strict container intake based on pre-stowage plans ensured seamless coordination between yard operations and vessel loading, enabling highly efficient turnaround.

Meanwhile, the port strengthened operational control throughout the process with refined management and resource coordination. Teams coordinated every step — from berthing preparation to departure — through strengthened production planning, equipment support, and system coordination.

A newly introduced vessel operation card system clarified responsibilities and execution standards at key stages, raising efficiency and operational consistency.

These measures allowed the COSCO Shipping Aquarius to complete operations with record-breaking efficiency, further showcasing Qingdao Port's world-class operational capability and service excellence.
