The container shipping route between Rizhao and Incheon ports has recently received official approval from the governments of China and South Korea. It marks the reopening, after more than two decades, of a direct container transport link between Shandong and Incheon.

The route will meet growing regional trade demand while supporting Shandong's development of a world-class port cluster and an efficient international logistics network.

In recent years, Shandong Port Group (SPG) has strengthened its role as a major transport hub and leveraged Shandong's strategic position under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) to expand services to Japan, South Korea and ASEAN. It has continued to improve its shipping network, enhance operational and customs-clearance efficiency through close cooperation with affiliated ports, and deepen overseas market engagement through its representative office in South Korea.

The new service will be operated by Shandong Ocean Shipping Group, a professional shipping company under SPG. The company currently operates 12 weekly services to major ports of South Korea, including Pyeongtaek, Busan, Incheon and Jeju.

Scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter, the Rizhao-Incheon route will offer two fixed sailings per week, serving the fast-turnaround needs of cross-border e-commerce, machinery, automobiles and other high-value cargo.

Shandong Ocean Shipping Group and Rizhao Port will work closely to develop the route into a premium service and further strengthen the China-South Korea logistics corridor.
