Zhejiang scores high in national high-tech zone rankings
The high-tech zones in Zhejiang province soared high in the 2016 rankings released by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), news website CZTV. com reported.
Hangzhou (Binjiang) national high-tech zone ranked third, behind the two most highly developed zones in China, Beijing Zhongguancun and Shanghai Zhangjiang, hitting a record high.
Ningbo national high-tech zone moved from No.21 to No.17, ranking second in China on the scale of sustainability. Other high-tech zones in Zhejiang also soared high in the rankings.
Zhejiang province now houses 36 provincial-level high-tech zones, eight of which are national level zones. These high-tech zones stand as key technology and innovation centers to promote the transformation and upgrading of China's economy.
High and new industries have led other sectors as the engine of growth in Zhejiang. In the first half of 2017, the added value of high and new industries in the province totaled 303.32 billion yuan ($44.49 billion), representing an increase of 10.8 percent compared with 2016.
