Zhejiang Tourism Investment crosses one trillion mark
According to a 2016 Report on Zhejiang Tourism Investment, Zhejiang province in 2016 invested from one trillion yuan to 1.1775 trillion yuan ($178.5 billion) in its tourism industry.
The report was delivered during a Zhejiang tourism investment and financing promotion meeting held Sept 22 in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province as part of the 2017 International Islands Tourism Conference.
Investment actually completed in Zhejiang tourism projects reached 144.4 billion yuan in 2016, 11 percent of the national figure. The growth rate for investment actually completed was up by 30 percent.
The number of tourism projects receiving investment of over 5 billion yuan was 50, about one-sixth of equivalent tourism projects under construction nationwide.
Last year, Zhejiang province's investment in the tourism industry was mainly in infrastructure, tourism villages and towns, hotels, theme parks and local special attractions. Integrated projects attracted capital from various sources, accounting for 36 percent of investment actually completed in Zhejiang.
More than 40 counties, cities and districts in Zhejiang achieved investment of over 10 billion yuan, including Hangzhou, Ningbo, Huzhou, Jiaxing and Lishui. Zhejiang tourism became global, high-end and international.
According to the 2017 Annual Report on China Domestic Tourism Development Zhejiang's tourism industry development index ranked second in China after that of Jiangsu province.
The total output of Zhejiang tourism in 2016 showed year-on-year growth of 12 percent to 830 billion yuan. The added value of the tourism industry reached 330.5 billion yuan, accounting for 7.1 percent of Zhejiang's GDP.
Zhejiang province plans to support six key tourism projects in the future, namely tourism section construction, global tourism, tourism in Zhoushan New Area, rural leisure, tourism facilities in public buildings and increasing benefits to tourists.
