A handbook on the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 was jointly published by the First Affiliated Hospital of the School of Medicine of Zhejiang University, Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation on March 18 to share the hospital's clinical experiences with the rest of the world.

The English version has already been published, with the Italian, Korean, Japanese and Spanish versions soon to follow.

The Handbook of COVID-19 Prevention and Treatment, compiled by many medical experts from the hospital, gives detailed advice on how to treat COVID-19 patients in different conditions, especially critically ill patients.

The hospital, as a national medical center for infectious diseases, undertook the mission of treating critically ill patients during the epidemic.

It has treated 105 COVID-19 patients, 79 of whom were in critical condition, and 98 percent of all patients have been discharged. No medics were infected.

The hospital has also performed two lung transplant surgeries.

"Considering the high death rate of patients around the rest of the world, we think it is necessary to share our experiences and methods to help other countries fight against the disease," said Liang Tingbo, Party chief of the hospital.

Statistics show that more than 80,000 people have been infected in 151 countries and regions outside of China, with the death rate surpassing 6 percent in some countries.

In fact, Zhejiang's treatment experiences have already attracted attention from overseas. The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Yale University recently called the hospital to seek advice on disease control.

The Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation have also been devoted to helping people fight against the epidemic.

The two foundations recently announced that they donated 1.18 million face masks, 1.7 million kits and 60,000 suits of protective gear to countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, Italy, Spain, the United States and Africa.

The Jack Ma Foundation has donated 100 million yuan ($14.05 million) for scientific research on COVID-19 prevention and treatment at home and abroad.

DingTalk, a remote office tool developed by Alibaba Group, has been recommended by UNESCO to provide online lectures for 420 million students in 39 countries and regions.

Ali Health and Alipay, online healthcare and payment platforms operated by Alibaba, jointly launched an online medical consultation channel for overseas Chinese. The channel has been recommended by more than 100 embassies and consulates around the world.
