World's best root carving in Kaihua
Kaihua county in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, is a State-level ecological county and home to large stretches of primitive forests. Its root carving, expanding in reputation since the Tang Dynasty (618-907), grew out of the ancient artistry of wood carving and became a separate artistic class. The county also boasts a root carving park - a 5A-level scenic spot - located in the Root Palace Buddhist Cultural Tourism Zone.
