Chen Xianghong, Huang Lei, Lai Shengchuan, and Meng Jinghui, the four initiators of the Wuzhen Theater Festival, and American theater veteran Robert Wilson jointly sounded the opening gong on the evening of Oct 19, announcing the opening of the 10th Wuzhen Theater Festival.

This year's festival is titled "Rise", symbolizing a new journey of artistic exploration.

The festival will run until Oct 29 and feature five sections: specially invited plays, an emerging theater artist competition, an ancient town festival, a Wuzhen dialogue, and a theater market.

A total of 28 works from 11 countries and regions will be staged in 12 theaters in Wuzhen, holding 87 performances during the 11-day theater festival. 

In addition to 14 plays from countries such as Germany, Austria, Poland, India, Italy, Belgium, France, Brazil, Japan, and Britain, there will also be 14 top-notch plays from China.
