The Quzhou Chenpi Science and Innovation Industrial Park has opened in Qujiang district, Quzhou, and launched over 100 products derived from chenpi, including teas and wines, according to Tide News on Nov 29.
Quzhou chenpi is a dried, aged tangerine peel, which has long been a premium medicinal ingredient distributed nationwide. According to the Quzhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, tests show that Qujiang tangerine peels have an average hesperidin content of over 5 percent.
The industrial park boasts a 9,300-square-meter production center, staffed with 24 professional technicians, equipped with six production lines and 12 peeling and drying machines. It also features a storage center capable of holding 4,000 metric tons of chenpi.
The park represents a total investment of 150 million yuan ($20.63 million) and spans 17,000 square meters. It aims to create a comprehensive service system for the chenpi industry on establishing industrial standards, planting, protecting, processing, storing, testing, certifying, and researching its history.
The Qujiang district boasts unique advantages in the development of the chenpi industry, and its annual output of over 2,500 tons accounts for half of the city's total production.
