Dancing dragon celebrates Lantern Festival in Quzhou
Quanwang town – in Qujiang district, Quzhou, Zhejiang province – was wonderfully aglow with colorful lanterns on Feb 11 as villagers paraded through the streets, dancing with a 100-meter-long Quanwang bench dragon.
The Quanwang bench dragon is well known and much loved as a recognized provincial intangible cultural heritage item. This lively celebration marks the arrival of Lantern Festival, with hopes for a bountiful harvest and a year filled with prosperity and good fortune.
This year's Lantern Festival falls on Feb 12, the 15th day of the first month of Chinese New Year, which marks the first full moon of the year.
