Taizhou Port in East China's Zhejiang has reached another impressive milestone, with its cargo throughput surpassing 100.19 million metric tons in 2025, up 17.6 percent year-on-year, the fastest growth rate among all coastal ports in the province. This marks a major leap from the 50.91 million tons recorded in 2020.
A report at the fifth plenary session of the Sixth CPC Taizhou Municipal Committee on Jan 6 highlighted the development space and potential of Taizhou's coastal region.
By integrating its advantages such as port, hinterland, and manufacturing status, the report laid out a roadmap for promoting the city's industrial strength, maritime openness, and ecological protection, all of which have guided the port's growth.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Taizhou Port invested over 7 billion yuan ($1 billion), adding 22 new berths and expanding its annual throughput capacity by about 24.5 million tons. This significantly enhanced its operational capacity. The port also added 13 new international routes in 2025, reaching over 200 countries and regions.
Looking ahead, digital transformation is expected to keep playing a key role in its growing success. As the port continues to expand, it is set to become an important hub for both regional and international trade.
