"New products have been well-received by clients, and even though our daily production capacity is 80,000 to 100,000 square meters, it's still difficult to satisfy demand," said Sun Chenglei, president of Zhejiang Zhaohui Filter Technology Co Ltd, in an interview on April 20.

Sun made the remarks when discussing nanoscale coated materials the company successfully developed early this March.

Sun's company epitomizes Jiaxing's achievements in encouraging and supporting the development of new products and new technology among local companies.

In 2019, the number of provincial-level new industrial products and technology registered by Jiaxing companies led all other cities and Zhejiang, as did the output value of new industrial products manufactured by companies above designated size.

"New products or technology" refers to those that are high-performing, inventive, or applicable to a particular field. Zhaohui's nanoscale coated materials meet this criteria.

Nanoscale coated materials are needed to produce recyclable masks and can replace critical raw materials such as melt-blown fabric, which has helped greatly alleviate mask shortages.

"Our company has always valued innovation," said Sun, adding that in 2010, Zhaohui established an academician workstation, and four years later, the workstation became provincial-level workstation.

In 2019, Jiaxing held nine release conferences for new products and technologies. The output value of new products in the city that year totaled 433.2 billion yuan ($61.16 billion), a year-on-year increase of 8.16 percent.

Jiaxing has also continued its cultivation of State-level, provincial-level, and municipal-level technology centers, and the city currently houses 625 technology centers, including six State-level and 104 provincial-level centers.

In 2020, Jiaxing plans to take measures to promote the development and application of new provincial-level industrial products and technology.

The city will hold two release conferences every month starting this April to introduce new products, technology, and equipment.
