Jiaxing uses awards to incentivize standards
Jiaxing, a city in East China's Zhejiang province, establishes awards to encourage the establishment of standards among local institutions, Jiaxing Daily reported on June 4.
The award is called a "standard innovation award", for which there will be several winners and several nominee nominees.
The winners, of which there will be no more than three, will receive 500,000 yuan ($70,000), while the nominees, of which there will be no more than five, will receive 200,000 yuan.
Companies, universities, research institutes, inspection agencies, and social organizations are welcomed to apply for the awards.
If they apply for the award on the basis of establishing or revising standards, they must satisfy one of the following requirements:
Be taking part in the formulation or revision of international standards;
Have played a leading role in the formulation or revision of national standards, industrial standards, and local standards, that have been in place for more than one year;
Have played a leading role in the formulation or revision of group standards that have been in place for more than one year;
Have played a role in the formulation, revision, or self-declaration of advanced enterprise standards that have been in place for more than one year.
If they apply for the award on the basis of pilot or demonstration standardization projects, the project must be at the municipal-level or above and have passed inspection.
Up to this point, Jiaxing institutions have participated in the formulation of 13 international standards and 1,528 national and industrial standards.
