Nanhu district in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province has been offering assistance to poverty-stricken areas in recent years.

Since this year, the district has accelerated another round of assistance to Zoige county in Aba Tibetan and Qiang autonomous prefecture, Southwest China's Sichuan province.

Nanhu is expected to focus on labor service and industrial support, as well as stimulate consumption in an effort to explore more ways to increase local residents' incomes.

On Sept 14, Nanhu authorities cooperated with Jiaxing Vocational and Technical College to organize experts to teach Zoige residents on how to market their specialties via short video platforms, as well as how to manage a hotel and restaurant.

"The lectures given by these experts were really down to earth and easy to understand," said the director of the Zoige employment bureau.

Industrial assistance is an indispensable part of Nanhu's efforts to assist poverty-stricken areas. Starting from 2017, Nanhu helped the farmers' specialized cooperative in Tiebu town gain the right to use 800 mu (53.33 hectares) of land to plant plateau plums, which has improved the average benefit per mu nearly 10 fold.

In 2018, Nanhu was partnered with Suichang county in Lishui to lift it out of poverty.

The introduction and planting of Fengqiao juicy peaches in Suichang's Chazhuling village is a successful example of Nanhu's industrial assistance.

Due to the high quality produce and the extensive promotion, the juicy peaches helped increase Chazhuling's collective income by more than 130,000 yuan ($20,000) and the income of more than 70 local households by more than 10,000 yuan this year.
