Jiaxing sets new record for number of provincial-level overseas engineers
Eighty-seven foreigners working in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province were recently recognized as provincial-level overseas engineers, a new record high for the city, local media reported on Dec 22.
The figure puts Jiaxing in first place in Zhejiang.
Among these engineers is Brazilian national Johninson, who is responsible for the development of electronic-controlled software simulation parts at Jiaxipera Compressor Co Ltd.
"Johninson has greatly boosted our development as well as the improvement of current prodcuts for mass production," said Hu Feifan, director of the electronic control department of Jiaxipera, adding that overseas experts have also helped the company better satisfy the demands of foreign clients.
This year, Jiaxipera produced 12 million compressors for refrigerators, some of which were exported to countries and regions such as Europe, India and Japan, according to Hu.
Jiaxing has in recent years taken measures to offer more efficient services to overseas experts.
For example, the city has made it easier for foreign experts to enter and leave Jiaxing. Moreover, those recognized as Class A and B foreign experts in Jiaxing will receive the same recognition in demonstration zones of integrated ecological development within the Yangtze River Delta.
Pinghu, a county-level city in Jiaxing, has also afforded the same recognition to those deemed to be Class A or high-end foreign talents in Shanghai's Jinshan district.
