Jiaxing's foreign trade value totals $5.5b in Nov

Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province set a new monthly record for import and export values in November.
According to Jiaxing Customs, the total value of imports and exports hit 35.01 billion yuan ($5.5 billion) that month, a year-on-year increase of 14.2 percent.
The export value was 25.97 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.8 percent while the import value was 9.04 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.4 percent.
The foreign trade value, export value and import value in Jiaxing increased 6.2 percent, 2 percent, and 20.4 percent on a month-on-month basis respectively.
The city's five largest export markets were the European Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Latin America, and Japan with respective export values of 5.1 billion yuan, 3.37 billion yuan, 1.88 billion yuan, and 1.57 billion yuan, yearly increases of 42.5 percent, 11.4 percent, 40.2 percent and 22.6 percent.
Exports to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 8.32 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.7 percent and accounting for 32 percent of the city's total export value.
Jiaxing exported 13.65 billion yuan worth of mechanical and electrical products, 8.58 billion yuan in labor-intensive products, and 5.59 billion yuan in high-tech products in November, year-on-year increases of 21.9 percent, 9.6 percent and 21.4 percent.
That same month, Jiaxing imported 820 million yuan of agricultural products and 2.08 billion yuan of basic organic chemicals, year-on-year increases of 31.2 percent and 210 percent.
