The 12 main scenic spots in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, received nearly 200,000 tourists during the three-day New Year Festival holiday, according to the Jiaxing municipal bureau of culture, broadcasting, television, and tourism.
The ticket proceeds of the spots totaled more than 1.96 million yuan ($308,000) during the holiday.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Beilun district, Ningbo, the number of tourists from outside Jiaxing decreased and many tourists in the city decided to take short-distance tours in their own cars.
Short-distance rural tours were their first choice, as the city's rural areas boast scenic views, improved tourist facilities, and less tourists than scenic spots in urban areas.
Newly-opened places in the downtown area of Jiaxing, including the Jiaxing Railway Station and shopping mall Nanhu Place, attracted residents of Jiaxing's Haiyan, Pinghu, and Tongxiang counties.
