Seven companies in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, were included among the top 500 listed companies in the country in 2021, local media reported on Jan 5.

The number put Jiaxing on the seventh and third places around the country and province, respectively.

The total market value of the 500 companies was about 80 trillion yuan ($12.54 trillion) as of Dec 31, 2021, with the threshold for the list being 41.6 billion yuan, 3 billion yuan more than that in 2020.

Among the seven Jiaxing companies, the market values of Hoshine Silicon Industry Co Ltd, Huayou Cobalt Co Ltd, and Flat Glass Group Co Ltd each exceeded 100 billion yuan with respective amounts of 141.8 billion yuan, 134.7 billion yuan and 112.9 billion yuan.

The three companies were also ranked among top 10 in Zhejiang in market value.

With its focus on the research and manufacture of Li-ion batteries and cobalt-related new materials, Huayou Cobalt is dedicated to becoming a global leader in Li-ion battery materials.

The company has already completed its layout with headquarters in Jiaxing, raw materials from overseas, manufacturing bases in China, and a global market.

Huayou Cobalt epitomizes the expansion of listed companies in the city. As of 2021, Jiaxing was home to 70 listed companies with a combined market value of 902.72 billion yuan.

Last year, Jiaxing published work plans to help promote stock reforms and encourage more local companies to go public. By 2025, Jiaxing is expected to house more than 100 listed companies with a combined market value of 1 trillion yuan, according to the local municipal financial office.
