Jiaxing's foreign trade sets record

The foreign trade of Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province saw a record high in 2021, reaching 378.38 billion yuan ($59.44 billion), a year-on-year increase of 24 percent, according to Jiaxing Customs.
The city's exports jumped 23.3 percent year-on-year to 280.08 billion yuan, while its imports surged 26.1 percent year-on-year to 98.3 billion yuan.
Jiaxing ranked fourth in Zhejiang last year in foreign trade, exports and imports, accounting for 9.13 percent, 9.3 percent, and 8.69 percent of the provincial totals, respectively.
Exports by cross-border e-commerce companies soared 730 percent year-on-year to 2.86 billion yuan in 2021.
Exports to its four major traditional markets, namely the European Union, South Korea, the United States, and Japan, increased 27.1 percent, 26.7 percent, 18.8 percent, and 5 percent, respectively, while its exports to ASEAN and Latin America grew 18.8 percent and 38.3 percent year-on-year, respectively, to 32.6 billion yuan and 17.79 billion yuan.
Exports of high-tech products in Jiaxing increased 33 percent year-on-year to 45.67 billion yuan last year, accounting for 16.3 percent of its total foreign trade.
In December, the city set a record in monthly foreign trade with a total of 39.34 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 24.1 percent.
Exports totaled 29.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 29.8 percent, while imports stood at 9.54 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.2 percent.
