Jiaxing's construction industry generates $22b in revenue

The construction industry in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, generated 139.37 billion yuan ($22.02 billion) in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 14.2 percent, local media reported on Feb 18.
Jiaxing has been promoting the construction of prefabricated buildings in recent years and in 2021, the city completed 13.04 million square meters of prefabricated buildings, finishing 163 percent of its annual target.
Seventeen buildings in the city won awards, including five national awards and 44 construction sites won provincial recognition in safety and environmental protection last year.
All this achievements were mainly attributed to the favorable policies and support from Jiaxing authorities.
The city has practiced the reform of margin system to reduce number of years for construction companies to be exempt from margin wages of migrant workers to two years.
At the end of last year, Jiaxing published a five-year plan for the development of its construction industry.
According to the plan, the city will improve the competitiveness of local construction companies in the following years and by the end of 2025, the total output value of the construction industry in Jiaxing should amount to 180 billion yuan ($28.26 billion).
Jiaxing will implement green, low-carbon, and energy-saving design standards around the city to ensure the energy efficiency rate of new buildings reaches 75 percent.
