Jiaxing's total exports of luggage and bags reached 1.64 billion yuan ($233.27 billion) in the first quarter of this year, up 39.3 percent year-on-year, according to Jiaxing Customs.

From January to April, the city's luggage and bag exports totaled 2.3 billion yuan, up 45.7 percent year-on-year.

Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province is one of three major luggage production bases in China.

Jiaxing is currently home to more than 500 luggage and accessory supporting enterprises, producing 490 million luggage and bags of various types each year. Fifty-five percent of the luggage industry is concentrated in Pinghu, a county-level city of Jiaxing, where the luggage accessories needed for production can be matched locally. Therefore, Pinghu is known as "China's travel luggage capital".

As a leading enterprise in Jiaxing's luggage industry, Newcomer Group's production scale and output value have returned to their average level before the COVID-19 epidemic.

Newcomer Group's Pinghu production base exported a total of 120 million yuan worth of luggage from January to April, a year-on-year increase of 20 percent, and the group's total exports are expected to reach $100 million this year.

In addition, since the beginning of this year, Newcomer Group has participated in nearly 10 exhibitions held at home and abroad to obtain more orders.

Newcomer Group and other luggage and bag enterprises in Pinghu went to Thailand to participate in the exhibition and received $4.5 million in orders in March. In early May, the group participated in the 133rd Canton Fair in Guangzhou. During the exhibition, the group secured nearly $10 million in intended orders. In June, the group will also participate in the Shanghai International Fashion Industry Exhibition.
