Jiaxing experiences tourism boom over National Day

Jiaxing saw a significant boost in tourism during the National Day holiday, welcoming 5.58 million visitors and generating approximately 7.42 billion yuan ($1.05 billion) in revenue, a substantial increase over 2023.
Notably, the city attracted over 1 million visitors daily from Oct 3 to 5, with Wuzhen and Nanhu emerging as top attractions.
Visitors from outside Zhejiang accounted for 78.8 percent of the total, with the majority coming from Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Anhui, while overnight tourists made up 64.3 percent of the total.
The city launched over 1,141 red-themed cultural activities, study tours, and tourism products, drawing numerous visitors to the downtown area. Key cultural venues hosted National Day-themed exhibitions, attracting large crowds. Highlights included traditional performances and collaborative poetry exhibitions in scenic areas like Nanhu Scenic Area and Zicheng Ruins Park.
The holiday also brought new attractions to various villages, enhancing Jiaxing's overall tourism appeal. Popular spots included a baseball-themed park in Lindai town and an art exhibition in Wuzhen.
The city also experienced a surge in cinema attendance, driven by the release of 10 popular films across various genres. The patriotic film The Volunteers: The Battle of Life and Death topped the box office.
