Jiaxing's Spring Festival rush sets record
As the 40-day Spring Festival travel season ended on Feb 22, Jiaxing's highway traffic hit an all-time high, with total highway exits surpassing 21 million vehicles for the first time.
Local police statistics show an average of 525,800 vehicles per day on Jiaxing's highways, marking a 7.94 percent year-on-year increase.
Traffic peaked in three waves: an initial surge in the first week, a concentrated flow during the Spring Festival holiday, and a final spike around Lantern Festival. The single busiest day was the last of the return rush, with 665,000 vehicles recorded.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, highway police implemented a balanced approach — offering warnings for minor violations while cracking down on serious offenses.
Travelers also benefited from expanded roadside assistance, including free rest areas, phone charging stations, emergency medical supplies, and vehicle support services. Over 500 people took advantage of these services.
