A freight train carrying eight containers of outdoor goods departed Songyang Railway Station in Songyang county, Lishui, Zhejiang province, on Feb 10.

The goods, produced by Zhejiang Baima Leisure Products Co, are bound for the United Kingdom, Germany, and other destinations via Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

"After the Spring Festival holiday, overseas demand surged, and nearly 10,000 pieces of outdoor furniture require transport daily to the Songyang Railway Station," said Shui Huaxin, general manager of the company.

Lishui has established and is operating a dry port, serving as a fast-track channel for local exporters. Leveraging the resource advantages of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, the dry port has opened sea-rail intermodal routes from Lishui, Jinyun, and Songyang railway stations to Ningbo Zhoushan Port – and new multimodal logistics routes from Lishui and Jinyun railway stations via Wenzhou Port to Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

"Southwest Zhejiang's export products mainly include steel products, wooden toys, and outdoor goods, with an annual export container production of over 20,000 standard containers. Some goods are transported globally via the sea-rail intermodal routes," said a representative from Lishui Inland Port International Logistics Co.

As of Feb 9, Lishui's dry port had handled 1,202 standard containers, with sea-rail intermodal transport accounting for 780 containers, reflecting a 56.8 percent year-on-year growth.

Moreover, the newly opened Wenzhou-Lishui sea-river intermodal route has helped Lishui's foreign trade enterprises reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Since January, Wenxi Port in Qingtian, a county-level city in Lishui, has handled 285 standard containers, a 102 percent year-on-year increase.
