At the construction site of the Lishui Tongji Weir Cultural Exhibition Center in Lishui, Zhejiang province, workers set up scaffolding, preparing for the high-altitude work on the building.
Located in the Ancient Weir-Home of Painting (Guyan Huaxiang) scenic area and covering a building area of around 5,000 square meters, the center will feature four main themed exhibition halls involving the building process, techniques, protection, and development of the weir.
It will be the first museum in China dedicated to the exhibition of ancient canal culture.
The center aims to systematically and comprehensively showcase the water conservancy, the agricultural culture of the Tongji Weir, and life in the surrounding areas.

"By this April, the project is expected to officially enter the decoration and exhibition setup phase," said Ye Jianxiang, the project leader from Lishui Liandu District Urban and Rural Construction Investment Group Co.
The Tongji Weir in Lishui has a long history spanning over 1,500 years and is the oldest large-scale water conservancy project in Zhejiang province.
In 2014, it was listed in the first batch of World Heritage Irrigation Structures and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
