The 2024 Mayors Exchange Conference on Maritime Silk Road City Influence was held in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on Nov 30.
The event brought together government officials, experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, and media representatives from international organizations and countries and regions involved in the Maritime Silk Road to foster friendships and discuss cooperation strategies.
Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, former prime minister of Pakistan, expressed his hope that attendees can seize this opportunity to enhance exchanges, share insights into urban development, and participate in the high-quality building of the Belt and Road, promoting the prosperity of cities along the Maritime Silk Road.
Secretary-General of ASEAN Kao Kim Hourn remarked that Southeast Asia and China have long maintained trade and cultural exchanges through the Maritime Silk Road. He expressed hope that this platform would continue to promote multi-field connectivity and contribute to global sustainable development.
Through the Maritime Silk Road, Wenzhou has strengthened its global connectivity, enhanced mutual trust and consensus, gathered innovative forces, and promoted global cultural exchange, according to Zhang Zhenfeng, Wenzhou's Party secretary.
At the exchange conference, the Influential Maritime Silk Road Cities (China) List 2024 was released, with Wenzhou being included for the second year in a row.
