  • Visa Types and Application Procedures

    D Visa: Issued to an applicant who is to reside permanently in China. A permanent residence confirmation form shall be required for the application of a D Visa.

  • Business (F-Visa)

    (F) Visa is issued to an alien who is invited to China on a visit, on a study or lecture, business tour, for scientific-technological and cultural exchanges, for short-term advanced studies or for intern practice, for a period of no more than six months.

  • Transit (G Visa)

    Transit visas are not required for crew members and passengers (citizens of the United States and the United Kingdom not included) who are in immediate transit through China and who stay for not more than 24 hours within the airport of the in-transit city.

  • Tourist (L Visa)

    ​(L) Visa is issued to an alien who comes to China for sightseeing, visiting relatives or other private purposes.

  • Student (X Visa)

    (X) Visa is issued to an alien who comes to China for study for a period of more than six months (long-term student). An alien who comes to China for study for a period of no more than six months (short-term student) shall apply for a (F) Visa.

  • Procedures for Travel Permit Application

    foreigner wishing to travel to cities or counties closed to foreigners shall apply in advance for a travel permit to the public security bureau of the city or county where he/she stays and may proceed there only with permission.
