The results for the Top 10 Beautiful Bridges of 2020-25 were recently announced in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. The Sangyuanzi Yellow River Bridge, part of the G312 Qingfu Highway and funded by Gansu Highway Traffic Construction Group, was honored as a "top 10 beautiful bridges" finalist. It was the only bridge from Northwest China to receive this recognition.
Spanning the Sangyuanzi Canyon in Yuzhong county, Lanzhou, the bridge stretches 959 meters with a main span of 328 meters. Designed as a two-tower cable-stayed structure with eight lanes across dual carriageways, its south tower stands 152 meters high and the north tower 133 meters. It is the world's first separated twin-pylon cable-stayed bridge connected with buckling-restrained braces and boasts the largest span of its type in a seismic zone of intensity eight or above in China.
