Zhoutouzui Park in Guangzhou’s Haizhu district has reopened to the public after recent renovations. Expanded from its original 10,000 square meters to 40,000 sq m, the park will offer a more spacious and quality public venue for citizens to enjoy.

To inherit and popularize the cultural origins of the Maritime Silk Road in Guangzhou, a Silk Road culture wall has been set up at the park. A square named after the historic Sohar shipping route has also been built and includes a monument and an anchor-shaped sculpture. In ancient times, Oman's Sohar port was a significant stop along the way from Guangzhou to Arab countries.

To support the city’s green development, Zhoutouzui Park will act as 'a large sponge' that channels the flow of rainwater into a drainage system. To achieve this task, the park has rain gardens, sunken grassy areas, drainage pipe networks, grassy ditches and permeable pavements.

The park has also built a waterside green roads system integrating the economic belt, cultural belt and landscape belt. The length of main roads in the park has reached three kilometers.

To provide better services for the public, Zhoutouzui Park now has government-service machines, sharable chargers and umbrellas for rental.

Moreover, 5G technology is widely used in the park. From runways, lockers and AI screens to benches and road sweepers, all these facilities have been integrated with 5G, making Zhoutouzui Park smarter.

The night scene of the park has also been enhanced and become a new tourist attraction. Every evening in the park, several landmark spots are lit up and every greenbelt is decorated with light strips, stretching 6,500 meters.

Also, energy-saving lamps have been erected along the park’s cultural corridors.
