Haizhu achieves 8.3% GDP growth

The GDP of Haizhu district in the first three quarters of 2023 was 194.02 billion yuan ($26.52 billion), an increase of 8.3 percent compared to the previous year.

The value added of the primary industry increased by 970 million yuan, a 27.8-percent year-on-year increase; the value added of the secondary industry reached 36.98 billion yuan, a 23.6-percent year-on-year increase; while the value added of the tertiary industry reached 156.95 billion yuan, a 5 percent year-on-year increase. Haizhu district ranks among the top in key indicators such as regional GDP, fixed asset investment, and domestic tax revenue, achieving growth rates of 8.3 percent, 10.7 percent, and 79.4 percent, respectively.

The new information technology services industry and the industrial sector are the two pillar industries of Haizhu district, while the leasing and business services industry and the accommodation and catering industry are showing signs of recovery. Both of these industries have maintained a high-rate growth.

Major indicators of various industries have performed well. Among them, the operating income of new information technology services industry above designated size (main business revenue above 20 million yuan) increased by 24.6 percent, the operating income of leasing and business services industry above designated size increased by 23.4 percent, and the total industrial output value of enterprises above designated size raised by 21.8 percent.

The turnover of the catering industry and fixed asset investment have achieved double-digit growth. The total import and export volume, the commodity sales volume of the wholesale industry, the commodity sales volume of the retail industry, and the total output value of the construction industry above qualification have all increased compared to the first half of the year.
