Tianhe Intelligence Business District
Tianhe Intelligence Business District (IBD) covers an area of 63 square kilometers, with a core zone of about 20.7 sq km. Tianhe IBD is one of the key links in the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Science and Technology Innovation Corridor and is the first major strategic development platform to see administrative approval and actual implementation in Guangzhou.
Tianhe Science and Technology Park (Tianhe Software Park) is one of the national high-tech industry parks. Tianhe IBD was built on the basis of Tianhe Science and Technology Park and Tianhe Software Park (Gaotang) in 2012, with the aim of developing it into an intelligence-driven, high-quality new town that is pleasant to live in.
Tianhe IBD aims to optimize its natural advantages that come from being a national software industrial base, a national torch program and software industrial center, and a national overseas high-level talent innovation and entrepreneurship base. It also seeks to implement the strategies of developing information technology, artificial intelligence and biomedicine (short for IAB) as well as new energy and new materials (short for NEM).
It will focus on high-quality development, promote the intensive use of land resources, improve the cluster development of relevant industries, leverage the influence of leading firms, facilitate the integrated growth of park branches, accelerate the construction of the Tianhe Software Value Innovation New Park, extend support to Tencent, Kugou Music and South Surveying & Mapping Technology in further consolidating the functions of their headquarters, facilitate the innovation-driven growth of local unicorn companies such as PCI Tech, Xiaopeng Motors and Beiming Software, advance the construction of industrial parks focused on internet business, big data, geographical information, artificial intelligence and bio-engineering, and accelerate the development of a modern industrial system characterized by the domination of new generation information technology and by the parallel development of emerging business forms like artificial intelligence and new materials.
The park is home to about 1,950 software and information services firms and 969 high-tech companies. There are 99 research centers working on engineering technologies and 39 incubation and entrepreneurship organizations. The gross income of Tianhe Science and Technology Park totaled 244.3 billion yuan($37.56 billion) in 2019, up by 9 percent year-on-year. The total output value of Tianhe Software Value Innovation New Park was 40.8 billion yuan in 2019, the highest among the local top ten equivalent parks.
On Feb 25, 2020, Tianhe IBD was formally recognized as a provincial high-tech industrial development zone and named as the Guangzhou Tianhe High-tech Industrial Development Zone.
Investment is welcomed in key sectors such as geographical information, e-commerce, mobile internet, digital design, big data, cloud computing and bio-medicine.
