Hainan cooperates with Guangdong in power supply

Hainan Power Grid Co, Ltd and Guangdong Power Grid Co, Ltd reached a strategic cooperation agreement on July 3 to deepen Hainan's reform and opening up.

The move also showed support for the building of the China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone and a free trade port with Chinese characteristics in Hainan.

Both belonging to China Southern Power Grid (CSG), the two companies will develop cooperation in planning and construction, production technologies, marketing services, foundational management and Party building, which will assist their parent company in developing into a first-class global enterprise with international competitiveness.

Hainan Power Grid Co carried out a three-year action plan last year. As a result, average power cuts for power grid users decreased 38.5 percent in 2017, ranking top nationwide. Guangdong Power Grid Co showed active respond in counterpart support which greatly enhanced key performance indicators of the Hainan branch.

The goal for Hainan Power Grid Co is to become top-tier domestically up to 2025 and ascend to world first-level by 2030, according to Deng Enhong, chairman of the Hainan branch.

China Southern Power Grid invests in, constructs and operates power networks throughout Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou and Hainan provinces and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, with a total service area spanning 1 million square kilometers and a customer base of 252 million people.

Hainan Power Grid Co, Ltd is CSG's wholly owned subsidiary, mainly responsible for the overall planning, construction, management and dispatching of Hainan power grid. With a total asset of 24.56 billion yuan ($3.7 billion), Hainan Power Grid's annual electricity sale reaches 22.19 TWH. It has 19 functional departments and 10 institutions under its direct control. With one substation of 500 kv, 29 substations of 220 kv, 117 substations of 110 kv and 151 substations of 35 kv, Hainan Power Grid provides electricity to 2.49 million households.
