A Haikou delegation of 12 tourism enterprises and the Haikou Hotel Association made a strong presence at the OTDYKH Leisure 2018 in Moscow from Sept 11 to 13, vigorously promoting local tourism resources and products.

Also known as 24th International Trade Fair for Tourism and Travel, the event is one of the most prestigious European tourism exhibitions with wide-reaching influence. A total of 604 units from 52 countries and regions took part this year.

Liao Xiaoping, director of the Haikou Tourism Development Commission, held exchanges with Roman Petrovich, former deputy head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation, during the exhibition.

According to Petrovich, Haikou's tourism resources have great appeal to Russian tourists. The intensified air routes and Hainan's visa-free policy also raise the ante and will give a boost to mutual tourist development.

Haikou is an international coastal travel destination and Moscow is an ancient city with a profound culture. Their tourism resources are highly complementary to each other. It is expected that the two cities will further enhance exchanges and share resources, said Liao.

A Hainan tourism promotion conference was held in Moscow on the night of Sept 11, with a video being played to introduce local food, accommodation, transport, travel, shopping and entertainment. Attendees showed keen interest in traveling to Haikou to see for themselves.
