Hainan launches 1st big data innovation application contest

The 1st Hainan Big Data Innovation Application Contest was launched in Haikou on Sept 13, soliciting innovative big data solutions to hard-nut governmental issues from domestic and foreign enterprises and teams.

The contest was hosted by the Industry and Information Technology Department of Hainan Province under the instruction of the State Information Center.

Contestants can sign for either the application or innovative scheme categories.  Those in the application category will conduct big data analysis and create applications revolving around the themes of statistical big data, intelligent transport, environmental protection, community, forestry, price regulation, healthcare, and internet plus education.

Enterprises and teams in the innovative scheme category are required to propose feasible solutions to intractable governmental affairs and social hot issues in Hainan relying on their big data products and technology.  

The competition will be conducted in stages: a preliminary assessment, a roadshow, and a final roadshow.

The top three of each theme in the application category will be rewarded 50,000 yuan ($7,303). Prize money of 300,000, 100,000 and 50,000 yuan will go to the top three in the innovative scheme category.
