Following the implementation of a raft of policies aimed at boosting offshore international trade, South China's Hainan has made remarkable initial achievements, with a total trade volume of $1.8 billion in 2020, a figure 10 times larger than that of 2019.

The figures were announced at a press conference held on Feb 4 with the attendance of various Hainan departments. The conference also revealed that from September to December 2020, the volume of Hainan's new offshore international trade hit $1.6 billion, an increase of 41 times over the same period the year before.

Over 10 high-quality market entities including Sinopec (Hong Kong) Hainan Petroleum and Sinochem Petroleum (Hainan) have introduced a new type of offshore international trade business to Hainan, forming a business cluster on the island province.

The rapid development of the industry has attracted more enterprises to provide support services for the new offshore international trade businesses.

Moreover, Hainan's new offshore international trade has been carried out with countries and regions such as Singapore, Brazil, Australia and Bangladesh, and a new regional trade network is gradually taking shape.
