Hainan tourism market sees recovery over Dragon Boat holiday

Hainan drew 1.33 million tourists and generated 1.24 billion yuan ($186 million) in tourism revenue during the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which fell from June 3 to 5 this year, signifying the significant recovery of the province’s tourism industry.

In order to stimulate the tourism consumption market, cities and counties like Haikou, Sanya, Ding'an, Wuzhishan, as well as Wenchang launched consumption coupons during the holiday. They also upgraded local tourism products to meet the needs of tourists.

Cultural and expo venues, such as the Hainan Museum and the China (Hainan) Museum of the South China Sea, held activities to promote Dragon Boat Festival culture.

As this year's Dragon Boat Festival was near Children's Day, parent-child travel and family travel were particularly popular. The province's major tourist attractions, hotels, and homestays organized a wide range of parent-child themed activities to attract tourists.
