During the 2023 New Year holiday, the popularity of hotels and scenic spots around Hainan posted significant recovery.

Many places in the province launched a variety of cultural and tourism activities on New Year's Eve. In the Sanya Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone, the folk custom activity to pray for the New Year attracted many citizens and tourists to participate, Haikou and Wanning linked together to create a romantic New Year atmosphere, and the Tianya Haijiao Scenic Area held a New Year's concert to let citizens and tourists enjoy festive music.

According to statistics from Qunar, an online travel service provider, Sanya, Haikou, Lingshui, Wanning and other places had nearly 30 percent of their hotel bookings for longer than three days, and many customers extended their travel plans to after the holiday. Travel trends indicate that the New Year holiday has become a small peak for long-term travel.

Xie Xiaoqing, a senior researcher at the Ctrip Research Institute, said that the New Year and the Spring Festival holidays will further unleash the recovery potential of Hainan's tourism industry. Tourism businesses should seize the opportunity and launch products to promote consumption growth.
