As a part of the second International Seed Industry Scientists Conference, the first Seed Industry Scientists Award Ceremony was held in Sanya on Jan 5, where 19 experts and three scientific research teams won awards.
The Seed Industry Scientists Award Ceremony, jointly established by the Sanya International Association of Seed Industry Scientists and the Da Bei Nong Group, gave recognition to seed scientists and teams who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of plants, animals and micro-organisms. It aims to support scientists in their research in order to revitalize the industry with talents.
The development of China's seed industry has made remarkable achievements in recent years. In the past 10 years, 39,000 crop varieties have been approved and registered. The two major grain crop varieties, rice and wheat, have achieved full self-sufficiency. The yield of hybrid rice per hectare has maintained its international leadership position, and the seed industry has made remarkable achievements in basic research, key technology innovation, and new variety breeding.
On Jan 5, the 2022 International Seed Industry Science and Technology Expo, another part of the seed industry scientists conference, was held in Sanya Bay Mangrove International Convention and Exhibition Center. This expo showcased new varieties, equipment and technologies from the entire seed industry chain.
