1st batch of 167 Hainan FTP projects start construction

On Feb 6, the commencement ceremony for the first batch of centralized construction projects of the Hainan Free Trade Port in 2023 was held in Haikou Jiangdong New Area. There are 167 projects under centralized construction in this round, with a total investment of 59.7 billion yuan ($8.8 billion), of which 18 billion yuan will be in 2023.

From the perspective of investment scale, there are two projects with a total investment of more than 3 billion yuan, 13 projects with a total investment of one billion yuan to 3 billion yuan, 74 projects with a total investment of 100 million yuan to one billion yuan, and 78 projects with a total investment of less than 100 million yuan.

From the perspective of investment type, there are 117 government-invested projects with a total investment of 28.4 billion yuan, accounting for 48 percent of the total investment, and 50 private projects with a total investment of 31.3 billion yuan, accounting for 52 percent of the total.

The project types cover industrial development, infrastructure upgrading, public services for people's livelihood and other fields.

The main venue of the centralized commencement ceremony was located at the site of the comprehensive smart energy project in Haikou Jiangdong New Area, where a central cooling energy station is planned. Liu Mingsheng, director and general manager of China Datang Group, introduced that the company plans to increase its investment by 30 billion yuan in the next three years, and will strive to achieve five million kilowatts of clean energy installed in Hainan by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), with an output value exceeding 100 billion yuan.

In the past five years, Hainan FTP has undertaken 2,143 projects with a total investment of 824 billion yuan.
