Hu Yabo, secretary of the work committee of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) made a special survey of construction of the zone's international hospital on Aug 15.
The international hospital is a cooperative project of the WHDZ and United Family Hospitals. The latter will be in charge of the hospital's operation and will provide high-level medical services for foreigners and high-end groups. The hospital's preparation is now in full swing.
WHDZ is the area of Wuhan with the most foreigners. Building an international hospital is a significant step forward as it meets foreigners' health care needs and helps build Wuhan into a world-renowned automotive industry city, said Hu after hearing a general introduction to the hospital.
He asked authorities to have a professional survey done to study the practical needs of the permanent foreign residents and to provide a comprehensive research report. Also he urged them to accelerate the construction based on cooperation with United Family Hospitals.
United Family Hospitals is a Nasdaq-listed health care group from US. It is currently the largest foreign-funded medical institution in China and has established hospitals and clinics in some Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin.
