WHDZ seeks further cooperation with France

A delegation led by Gui Yonghua, consul-general of France in Wuhan, visited Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), Hubei province, on Dec 19, to discuss further cooperation with the zone.

Hu Yabo, Party secretary of the zone, welcomed and held a meeting with the delegation regarding cooperation in fields such as new energy vehicles, artificial intelligence, and education.

Gui said that two thirds of French people in Wuhan now live and work in WHDZ, and French companies play an important role in the zone, including Dongfeng Renault Automobile and Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen Automobile, both of which are Sino-French joint ventures. 

He added that a research institute for new energy vehicles is to be established in the zone, which will bring more opportunities for cooperation to both sides.

Hu said that WHDZ now has more than 30 French companies, and that around 360,000 French cars were manufactured in the zone during 2017. 

The vehicle industry in WHDZ is currently transforming and upgrading from traditional manufacturing toward intelligent manufacturing, and it is hoped that both sides will be able to cooperate further, Hu added.
