Dongfeng Honda Automobile in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), central China’s Hubei province, realized output value of 109.22 billion yuan ($16.59 billion) from January to November this year, representing growth of 29.5 percent compared with the same period last year, according to recent news.
This made Dongfeng Honda Automobile the first company in Wuhan’s industrial sector that achieved annual output value of over one hundred billion yuan without owning any subsidiary companies.

From January to November, auto sales at the company reached 647,000. In the second plant of the company, more than 1,000 vehicles can be manufactured every day.
By the end of 2017, the company will strive to realize annual sales goal of more than 700,000.
In 2010, Wuhan’s automobile industry become the first industry with annual production value of over 100 billion yuan, and 2017 saw Dongfeng Honda Automobile become the first company with annual production value of over 100 billion yuan in Wuhan.
Wuhan now has five major automobile companies, including Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company, Dongfeng Renault Automobile Company, and Dongfeng Honda Automobile, as well as more than 500 auto parts companies. The automobile industry in Wuhan now ranks first in terms of industry scale in central China.
Founded in 2003, Dongfeng Honda Automobile achieved annual production value of over 10 billion yuan in 2006, and it has taken the company 11 years to achieve annual production value of over 100 billion yuan.
According to analysts, multiple popular auto types is the major reason for the rapid growth of the company, such as Dongfeng Honda CR-V, XR-V, and CIVIC, which together accounted for 72 percent of the sales volume in 11 months.
Currently, the third plant of the company, with investment of 10.5 billion yuan, is under construction in WHDZ.
