WHDZ holds 2nd session of the 9th People’s Congress

The second Session of the Ninth People’s Congress of Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) commenced on Dec 28, with 136 deputies participating. 

In the next three days, deputies will discuss and provide advices on the development of the zone.

Peng Hao, director of the administrative committee of the WHDZ, delivered the zone’s government work report in 2017.

The report said that the zone has maintained rapid yet steady economic growth this year. It is estimated that the gross regional product will increase by approximately 8.5 percent compared to last year. 

In 2017, the zone has been committed to introducing professionals and inviting investment, to promote reform and innovation.

A total of 85 public job fairs were held and a charitable fund was also set up to benefit residents, raising funds of over 43 million yuan ($6.59 million).

Ecology in the zone was also improved, with new green lands of 95.15 hectares and greenway of 35 kilometers. 

The zone also strengthened work style construction among government officials, and improved work efficiency, in order to better serve the people.

The zone is currently focusing on transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, and advancing development of high-end and emerging industries including robotic industry, modern service industry and general aviation industry.

In the next year, the zone will continue to put emphasis on aspects including inviting investment, introducing professionals, improving ecology, and improving social employment and security system, to develop WHDZ.
