Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei province, held a commencement ceremony for construction of key projects in the city on March 7.

With total investment of 15.5 billion yuan ($2.45 billion), the start of construction work on nine key projects in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) was marked at the ceremony.

The projects cover areas including new energy, robots, automobiles, and general aviation.

Among them, Center Power Group invested 1.2 billion yuan in WHDZ to build the first phase of a hydrogen fuel cell industrial park, which will be mainly engaged in the development, manufacturing, and operations of hydrogen fuel cell catalysts, battery control systems and hydrogen production systems, as well as the establishment of hydrogen refueling stations.

After completion, the project is expected to earn annual revenues of 35 billion yuan.

Jinan Found Automation Equipment has invested 100 million yuan in WHDZ to establish robotic stamping automation feeding systems and other automatic systems.

It is expected that the project will make annual revenues of 50 million yuan this year, and more than 80 million yuan after 2019.

In 2018, WHDZ will deepen industrial transformation and upgrading in the zone, focusing on development of the automobile, robotics, smart home and general aviation industries.
